The TU Berlin’s Department of Health Care Management has established international teaching cooperation with the School of Public Health at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana to offer scientific research-oriented training programmes in Health Systems Research and Management. Achieving universal health coverage requires every effort to strengthen health care systems and improve health policy developments. This implies enhancing individual, institutional and infrastructural capacity in health systems and policy research to conduct rigorous assessments of the performance of health systems. Therefore, the department has developed specialised training programmes, courses and contents using interdisciplinary approaches, theories and practices, which appropriately reflect health systems strengthening and policy developments from national, regional and international perspectives. This initiative has a special focus on Africa and other emerging settings; and seeks to:
- dedicate effort to support the development and strengthening of the capacity for health systems research and management.
- enhance the competences of health managers, practitioners, researchers and other public health professionals of diverse disciplines and backgrounds at various levels of engagement/employment in the health sector.
- constitute the basis for knowledge exchange and networking.
