Ruth Waitzberg joined the Department of Healthcare Management in May 2020 and is involved in projects with the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. She is a Minerva Stiftung fellow, and is currently working towards her joint PhD at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin) and at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), supported by the Israel National Institute of Health Policy Research. The topic of her PhD is DRGs and its impacts on hospitals’ activities and professionals in Israel and Germany.

Ruth Waitzberg is also a research scholar at the Economics and Health Policy department of the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute, Israel’s national representative to the European Observatory, and a lecturer at BGU.

Ruth holds a BA in sociology, anthropology and political science and an MA in public policy, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. A mother of three energetic children, and she finds her peace swimming.

Her primary research areas are: DRGs, payment to health providers and financial incentives, health insurance, access to care, policy evaluation, health and long-term care systems, and international comparisons.
