There is no one “best” way to pay for services for people with chronic health problems, but there is little doubt that payment methods have important implications for the nature and quality of services provided.
This chapter focuses on the different methods and combinations of methods available for paying for the care of people with chronic conditions, and the incentives generated by these methods.
